About Our Family

In the Fall of Freshman year of high school, I went to the Homecoming dance.  I asked a guy friend if he could set me up with one of his friends to dance with.  The boy that asked me to dance was tall, wore braces and seemed to be shy.  His name was Joe. That was that for a while.

Our Junior year, we started to hang out in same crowd. He dated my friend; I dated his friend.  I asked him for boy advice and we began to hang out a lot. My mother told me I would end up with him someday. I laughed and told her he was just a friend and I didn't see him that way.

And then, within a month's time, the Spring of our Senior year, it all changed. We started dating and we knew pretty much immediately that we should get married. Crazy, right?  In June of 2002, our 20-year-old selves walk up the aisle, naively unaware of all that lay ahead.

We welcomed our first baby, Isabelle, about nine months later.

Our son, Isaac, was born 19 months after that.

And our son Liam was born 22 months after that.

Apparently, having three babies in 3 1/2 years just wasn't adventurous enough for us, because then Joe switched jobs and in June of 2007, we moved to Teton Valley, Idaho.

After we had settled in there, we welcomed baby Adelle in June of 2009

Perhaps crazily, Joe accepted a position in Wichita we ended up moving back to Kansas in September of 2009.  And then George arrived in September of 2011.

Our life is never dull, so in the Spring of 2012, we moved to Wisconsin where we bought a house on 5 acres.

After homeschooling from the beginning, our three oldest attended the little school at our Church in Wisconsin, but it sadly closed it's doors forever in May of 2014.

We couldn't get the mountains out of our heads and our hearts, so we decided to put our Wisconsin house up for sale in June of 2014.

We moved to Colorado in February of 2015, where we are enjoying fresh mountain air, hiking, and all the wonders of the Rocky Mountains, in between work and homeschooling.

Welcome to this space where I record our family's story.  And ramble a bit on occasion about parenting, knitting, birth or other things that interest me :)
