Michelle and i joined a co-op for Three Irish Girls hand-painted yarn. Here it is in the Elsbeth, Nolan and Reilly colorways with a coordinating trim for each. Michelle, i was going to only put up a picture of mine so it would be a surprise, but i decided i couldn't tease you like that :)
I have been holding onto this sock yarn for several months now, i got it on discount at Knitpicks because they discontinued this line. But i thought it would make a really lovely pair of winter socks. I am used the RPM pattern from Knitty.com I really love the way that it turned out. It is hard to see, but it has a spiral that goes down the ankle part and across the top of the foot. The pattern was really simple, but fun.
I actually finished this Curly Purly soaker a couple of weeks back but just now got around to taking pictures of it. It is knitted in BFL in the Chili Peppers colorway by WWBN. It is so yummy, i love it!
Some Fleece Artist Yarn in a Basketweave pattern. Michelle finds all the best patterns and i do my best to copy her :)
The yarn and start of my fingerless gloves that will have a mitten flap. I am so excited about these!
The start of my very first knitted blanket. I have ten skeins of Suri Alpaca by Knitpicks and am using the Fan and Feathers Pattern. I didn't like how it looked on the suggested size 8 needles since it is a super bulky yarn so i sized up to 10 1/2. I didn't alter my cast on number though, so the blanket is going to be shorter and wider, which is okay because i think if i don't decide to gift it, i am going to use it for the back of the couch. The yarn is really weird. I think i like the look of it, but i don't really like to knit with it. Hmmmm, it should be interesting doing an entire blanket with it.
The beginnings of Joe's Swell hat by Knitty. I already goofed up and i haven't even gotten past the earflaps. Oh well, it shouldn't be too hard to fix
Some yarn i got at the LYS in Wichita. I have been wanting to do the Twinkletoes pattern by Knitty for Issy but i didn't know what yarn to use. They had the suggested yarn at Twist so i bought some. She'll love them!
Some Peace Fleece earmarked for some longies for Liam. Probably a soaker too since i just washed one of his with the diapers and felted it :P
A LTK Raglan in the Round for Liam. I am making matching sweaters for the boys and Issy is getting a complimentary sweater in different colors. I started on it and was working gung-ho for several days. I got to the neck decreases, accidentally decreased wrong in a couple of spots (ssk where i was supposed to k2tog and vice versa). I am trying to decide what to do. Here are my options (1) Ignore it and move on, accepting that part of the charm of hand knit things is that they aren't completely perfect. (2) See if i can fix it without ripping out two rows and putting them back on the needles or (3) Rip out two rows and put it back on the needles. I have enough self-knowledge to know that i will do number one eventually, but i haven't gotten to that point yet.
This little mistake is particularly distressing. I measured Issy. I did a gauge. I used a pattern that you can customize to your gauge/measurements. So why is it ridiculously big? Because either i was super relaxed when i was knitting the pattern or i was very tense knitting my gauge because my gauge was way off. Now, the silliest part is this.... a few rows into it, i was thinking "gosh that looks big" Did i check to see if i was making gauge? No. Note to self: if it seems like the item is knitting up big, check your measurements sooner. I am ripping the whole thing out and starting over. And hopefully knitting with more even tension this time.
Second sock syndrome. Enough said.
Ahhhh, this i actually feel pretty good about. I decided to rip out the Curly Purly Kimono and use a different cast-on because it was curling a lot. It looks much better this way. Now i just need to make the front.
I got this yarn on Thursday and had to knit it right away. It is Lindon merino dyed in the (retired) Grady colorway from Three Irish Girls. It is such a cool yarn. Soft and yet feels very sturdy. I like the colorway, it makes me think of smores. They should be finished in the next couple of days.
And the ADD continues. I got this BFL dyed by Wooly Wonders by Nada in the Chili Peppers and Wild Kingdom colorways. They are going to be soakers for Liam, though i haven't decided what pattern to use yet. This will probably get started before some of the other objects in this post are finished. Because that is the kind of girl i am :D
My sweet Issy and her Daddy yesterday afternoon. We have been cutting out the naps for her because she goes to bed much easier in the evening. So instead she "rests" on the couch in the afternoon while Isaac naps. This usually includes sweet Issy singing :) Yesterday, during rest time, Daddy read her a book and then they "rested" together. They fell asleep and it made my heart so happy :D
Little baby soaker i made for the business. The second picture is yarn for some Liam longies this winter. The third is yarn for some tights i am making Issy. Since her clothing of choice is dresses and it gets really cold during winter, i thought she should have something beautiful to cover her little legs. She gasped when she saw the pink yarn. I know what my girl likes ;)
Some yarn i purchased recently. There is a fantastic yarn store about five minutes from my house. I went in there yesterday and chatted with the owner, who was telling me about things to do around here and how to keep your sanity during the long winter. She was very nice and it was nice to interact with someone :) I got some Lorna's Laces Lion and Lamb on sale (the rainbow colored yarn) and now must find something spectacular to do with it. The manos (grey and shades of brown) i actually got at the yarn store in Jackson when the kids and I visited Joe the other day. It is going to be a soaker for Liam because his booty is getting bigger and he is outgrowing his old stuff. The other two are sock yarns because i have decided to learn to knit socks :)
This is tricky. It is going to be a LTK Girlie Halter. The back is all finished and it only took me a day to do. I don't know why the front seems to be knitting up so slowly. It is the same pattern as the back for several inches. I am just not motivated to do back and forth knitting. I really prefer knitting the round. I am plugging away on it because i think it is going to be really cute when its finished (perhaps a little big, but that means it'll work for next year too!)
I started an LTK Raglan for Annika. Why Annika when her own mother knits? Because i love this yarn, wanted to do the pattern and i only had enough yarn to do an Annika sized sweater. She is going to look adorable in it!
Ahhhhh, the sock! I cast on last night and the top picture is about midday and the bottom picture is just about 30 minutes ago. And no, i didn't even have to neglect my housework :) I still have a couple of inches to go before i start the heel. I love the way the yarn is striping up. The simple things in life bring me such joy :D
A LTK Bucket Hat that fits my little buddy. I added icords to each side so that i could tie it so that when he does exactly what he is doing in the picture (trying to take it off) it will stay on. I felt very inventive and crafty by adding the icords. I had to knit him one because he didn't have a suitable hat for our adventures in the forest.

LTK Vest that finally got done. It was a labor of love, but it was gifted and i feel good that i finally finished it.
Some Picky Pants shorties for Li. Should be finished in the next day or two. My knitting slump seems to be over!
I went to the LYS and got a little bit of yarn today (with the kids!) It was brief, and they were good :) So good, in fact, that the owner of the store gave them crackers...
Some small capris from the Picky Pants pattern for a friends new baby. I used 100purewool, which is heavenly soft.
Grace's LTK bucket hat, currently blocking. Um, i am not sure what to do about it. It is beautiful, but it will definitely not fit her. I followed the instructions, made the toddler size, with the depth of a infant size. I washed it in warm and dried it on med. Heck, i even washed it on hot before i blocked it. And it fits Issy, who is considerably bigger than Grace. And the brim flops in Issy's eyes. Her birthday party is tomorrow!
The beginning of the Easy Peasy mentioned in the previous post. I am going to try to dye some more yarn the same color today. *crosses fingers*
My yummy yarn from knitpicks. The left is Wool of the Andes bulky in the Spumoni colorway and the right is Shamrock yarn in Doyle. I liked the Shamrock yarn that i got in the MDC ball swap so much that i bought some in a different color :) I think it wants to be cargos for Liam.
Here is my girl, "knitting" It is one of her favorite activities after Isaac goes to bed. It is really twisting the yarn around a needle and then twisting it around another, but she says things like, "alright, i am going to cast on" and "there is the stitch". So cute :)
My first dyeing efforts. This is wilton cake dye and the colorway is teal, brown and a little bit of copper. I am excited to see how it knits up.
A little koolaid dye. Tropical punch and orange. So pretty and it smells good too, lol!
