Snowy Saturday and teaching Issy to knit

They played outside in the snow on Saturday. It was snowing when they got up and stopped late morning. They went outside after naptime and it started snowing again. They must've have had a good time because they stayed out there for 45 minutes before i told them it was time to come in. It is significant for me to note that we have already received near the amount of snow that we probably got all winter in Wichita last year. Yipes! I am glad my kids like snow (and that i'll be spending a couple of weeks in Kansas in the spring!)
We decided it was time to learn to knit for real. So i took her to the yarn store on Saturday morning and let her pick out her own (big) yarn and (big) needles. She is actually quite good. She is going to make a purse :)

Peace Fleece Picky Pants

The child gets very uncooperative when i want him to model longies for me, but here they are. Siberian Midnight with Negotiation Grey Peace Fleece. They need some washing/softening, but i love the way they knit up!

Child induced Insanity

There are things that seem like they might be a good idea when your children are driving you particularly crazy. Monday was a bit of a rough day... Liam took a 35 minute nap, there wasn't a double cart in the store, so Isaac had to walk (or, more accurately, run, jump, walk backwards... anything other than normal walking) while i grocery shopped, and Liam managed to keep turning himself backward in the cart even though he was buckled all the while, pulling things into his seat and gnawing on them (ate some cardboard from a package of drinkable yogurt). I was feeling particularly exasperated as i walked down the hair care aisle and looked at the hair coloring. Hmmmmm, something different, something bold. Blond? Nah, lots of people are blond. Red? No. Fuschia highlights? Sure!

So here it is. It isn't as bold today (top picture) as it was Monday night (bottom picture). I straightened it yesterday, which was interesting. I am going to leave it like this for a couple of weeks and then go to the salon and get it done professionally (and not pink). I think i might be going through a quarter life crisis.

A little picnic yesterday

Isaac: The Party

He got some trains and dinosaurs (among other things, but that is what we have taken out of the boxes). He loves them! He has been sitting at the table for the better part of the last two days (except when we drag him away) playing with them.

Issy eyes and Knitting stuff

Here is my Issy taking pictures again. I am not quite sure why, but it cracks me up. In this edition of "Issy eyes" we have a picture she took of herself and Liam, me talking on the phone (probably to Michelle), the contents of the toybox, and her foot. There were a lot of other artful shots too :D

My pretty needle organizer that Michelle got me for my birthday. Bee-u-t-full!
My fingerless glove with a mitten flap. Figured it would be good to have my fingers available for zipping coats and doing carseat buckles and then i can keep them all toasty warm during what promises to be a cold cold winter with the mitten flap

Snow!

Early October snow last Sunday. The kids had a very good time playing in it before it melted :) I am not used to living in a place where it snows a couple inches in early October. I have a funny feeling i might be tired of snow by next spring ;)

My little boy's 3rd birthday!

My sweet little Isaac's third birthday. My pregnancy with him was such a wild ride... finding out about the antigen, finding out he was a boy and giving him a name, the sonograms, his birth. He is so perfect. Such an immense challenge at times, so very strong-willed and with such definite ideas about the way things should be. But he is so loving and sweet and innocent. What an amazing little boy!
