Belated, i know! For Mother's Day, my littles got me some hiking shoes (on sale, for 40% off, which makes it better!) and a hoodie and took me out to dinner the night before. The real present was that during dinner, that were relatively well behaved and i didn't have to take anyone to the bathroom during the meal. Now that is a good evening!
Joe got me The Business of Being Born because, well, he knows me. Check out the trailer, good movie!
Well, as of last night, everyone in the house has had the stomach flu except for me. Riiiight. And Joe leaves tomorrow until Sunday. I am really really hoping that i don't get it with the three children in my care. We shall see, i suppose.
Ooooo, our most recent adventure. Earlier this week, i was walking to our back deck and heard a hissing sound. I didn't think much of it. Sunday night, Joe was outside and he noticed what sounded like dripping. He went to investigate the crawl space under the house and, sure enough, the pump that controls our well had sprung a leak. So we didn't have running water from Sunday night until today at about noon. And Issy and Isaac had the stomach flu all night. I'll let you use your imagination at how unpleasant that was. Thankfully, it is all fixed now, we all had long showers this afternoon, and the laundry doing has commenced.
It has been pretty cloudy/rainy/cool the last week, so not a lot of naturey things. It usually starts out nice in the morning and rains in the afternoon, so i have been taking a morning walk around our neighborhood and it has been awesome. Just me and my thoughts in the beautiful mountain air for half an hour. Nothing could be sweeter at this point.
So there is our update!
I have a husband who is my best friend, my highschool sweetheart and who I am still crazy in love with after almost 15 years together. We have babies... five beautiful, stubborn, imaginative, strong-willed little ones who challenge my wits and sanity every day. I am a lover of God, of birth, of life, of the forest and mountains, of wheat fields. I create things with yarn, needles, my heart and my hands. I am me.

The hike, the random and kitchen dancing
The hike
So, the littles and i took a hike the other day. The first half was great... the second half, notsomuch. Liam wanted out of the carrier but wanted to wander off, Isaac tripped in the dirt and it put him in a bad mood. And Liam was very very angry when i put him the car and screamed at the top of his lungs most of the way home. Good times.

The Random
And what says "It is almost dinnertime" like some jamming to 80's music in the kitchen.
My kids favorite
My babes love to sing and dance with Laurie Berkner. Warning though if you haven't heard her, the songs are super catchy (but some of the least offensive kids songs out there) and might be singing them for days :)

Well, a partial update
Well, guys, i was going to do a more comprehensive update, but it is taking forever and ever to upload pictures to blogger tonight, so we'll just take it easy. I promise i'll finish updating soon. I am purposely being vague when i say soon ;)
Here are some pics from the end of April. The snow had mostly melted and we were raking all the leaves from the fall. It is so good to see grass again!
That night, after our hard work, we treated ourselves to our first campfire of spring. Roasted hot dogs and s'mores.
In the next edition: We have been spending a ton of time outside and really relishing the return of warm weather! If you are dying to see more pics right now, check out Joe's blog, it is in my links list on the right of this page!

Sorry my readers!
I have been catching some flack for not blogging in over two weeks, and i send my apologies into cyberspace. I will try to blog sometime later today/tomorrow, and it'll be a good update, for being so patient with me :)
Liam and i just got back from an amazing morning walk. Just thought i would share :)

Trip to Grammie's
I always tell myself that i am going to take more pictures, but i am usually so preoccupied with chasing Liam that i forgot to snap them. Here are a couple from our trip though.
I love this one... it is so sweet. Issy was chilly, and i think her sweater was in the wash, so she wore someone's jacket. They love swinging and Liam even said swing.
Issy found a ladybug and was very excited about it and so i took her picture :)

Confirmation and First Communion
Our trip to Wichita included two important events: my nephew Robert's Confirmation and my goddaughter/niece Teresa's First Communion. I am so glad that we were able to be there for them!
I feel a little sappy, but i remember the first time i held Robert... i was 10 years old and he was my first nephew. I can't believe he is 16 now and has just taken the step into his adult faith.
My little Re. I was so excited to be chosen as her godmother when i was a Senior in high school. She was my practice baby before having my own kids. And she has turned out great ;)

The New Puppy
We arrived safely home this afternoon from our trip to Kansas. That journey is a blog post all to itself, so i'll spare you the details right now. Instead of overwhelming with a bunch of updates from the last month all at once, i'll be splitting it up, soon stay tuned the next few days. Update #1 Clementine!
My dog lover of a husband thought it would be a good idea to add a puppy to the family. So here she is... Clementine. She is a lab/border collie mix and as sweet as can be. And really laid back as far as puppies go. I was dubious, but she seems to have taken to me (and Issy) so i guess she can stay.
Issy giving her love.
She likes to sleep by the stove while i make dinner. Which makes it difficult not to trip on her, but the sentiment is there.
Kolbe and Clementine.
Enjoying a Hard Lemonade (not really, she just want to chew on the bottle, but i thought it was an amusing picture)
She wouldn't sleep in the little bed we made with the luggage on the trip. She slept by my feet most of the way.
Except when she slept on a proud Issy's lap. I think Issy might be working on her "Serious Camera Face"

Five years!
Five years ago at this time i was snuggled up in bed, staring at my little Issy in my arms, my heart so full. I was exhausted, but i stayed up most of that first night, just admiring the miracle of the person that i had waited so long to meet. She is amazing, sweet, sassy, caring, nurturing, strong-willed little person. Even now sometimes it seems surreal and unbelieveable that God entrusted her little soul to Joe and I. What a task.
We had a very good day. She was estatic that it was her birthday :)

Around the house
We are very excited to be coming home in a week! Gearing up, getting out our spring clothes, and ready for our 2 day road trip with the three kids. Yikes! Can't wait to see everyone and hopefully have some springy weather.
He really likes button-down shirts. He would wear one every day if he had enough. He says they make him look handsome. And they do. Normally, however, when he dresses himself, he picks out really nice combinations. This day, well, it was an interesting combination. The shirt and vest look nice when not paired with each other. But he dress himself and we weren't going anywhere, so who i am to judge ;)
A couple months ago, Joe was telling me how he thought it would be cool to have a fire in the fire pit. We haven't been able to see the fire pit for about that long, because it has been buried in snow. Monday was apparently the day, though, when his idea got the better of him. Him and Issy and Isaac went out after dinner (thanks, Daylight Savings Time!) and shoveled a path to and around the fire pit. Riiiiight. But it made them all happy, so more power to them.
Daddy and Liam have been having special bath time a couple times a week after dinner. For obvious reasons, this is just a picture of Liam by Daddy's feet.
He was holding a cracker and i told him i was going to take his picture. He decided that it would be a good pose to put this cracker in his mouth like this. He wouldn't take it out, so this is what we have.
What better toy than laundry baskets?
